Summary

About the Film

After his two extensive concept albums “Remote Control” (2016) and “Disconnected” (2018), Jan Blomqvist is back with fresh tracks four years later. To the surprise of many fans, however, there is no LP this time: In the fall of 2022, the EP “Carry On” with three tracks will be released.

And also in the future more EPs are planned for the time being. Hardly anyone listens to whole albums anymore. Including himself. So why produce one? Better to release new tracks every few months. Jan Blomqvist stands behind what he does. This is clear not only in the interviews in the film. He loves being on stage. To let himself be driven – by the music and the energy of the audience. In doing so, he says, he is always concerned with the audience’s emotional journey. He believes in confronting melancholy, from which feelings of happiness eventually emerge. Thus, his sound, which accompanies us through the film, is also a reflection of this philosophy – sometimes calm, sometimes dynamic, and yet always deeply moving.

In this very personal documentary, we take a look behind the scenes with the camera and learn more about Jan Blomqvist as a person and musician. For this we accompany the artist from the Berlin music studio to the video production in Babelsberg and to London for a live performance in the extraordinary Koko Club.
